On the morning of June 21, 2025, an academic salon hosted by the Institute of Qing History and the Qingfeng Academic Association convened at Room 328 of the Lide Student Development Space. Focused on interdisciplinary integration of Ming-Qing history studies with new-media sources, the event featured addresses by Institute Director Hu Heng, Deputy Director Xiao Lingbo, and Director of the Imperial Gardens Research Center Kan Hongliu, with doctoral candidate Zhou Chuanlong moderating. Over twenty scholars from Renmin University of China, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the Palace Museum Press, and other institutions participated.

In his concluding remarks, Professor Hu Heng emphasized a paradigm shift in historical interdisciplinarity: Whereas past collaborations focused solely on engaging the social sciences, contemporary interdisciplinarity in historiography extends to diverse fields. He advocated intensified scholarly focus on multi-modal historical sources—particularly images, audio recordings, and video archives—as essential for future research. The salon’s vigorous academic debates touched on both continuities and evolution in imperial garden studies traditions. Professor Hu also called for expanded institutional partnerships to advance collaborative research in this academic field.
