The unveiling ceremony of the “China Historical Disaster Mitigation Digital Lab” and the Symposium on the Construction of the China Historical Disaster Mitigation Data Platform were held at Renmin University of China on March 30, 2025. The meeting was organized by the Institute of Qing History at Renmin University of China, the Committee for Disaster History Studies under the China Association for Disaster Prevention, and Guangxi Normal University Press (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

Thirty scholars and experts from universities and research institutions attended the meeting. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions on the theme “Building China Historical Disaster Mitigation Data Platform for the AI Era.”

In the future, the Lab and Platform will continue integrating historical disaster data and activating traditional disaster mitigation wisdom. Through an open and shared academic ecosystem and a collaborative industry-university-research innovation mechanism, they will elevate China’s disaster risk governance capabilities, contributing expertise and efforts to safeguard people’s lives and property while supporting the broader goals of national security and development.
